Bournemouth can't afford to drop more points against Luton

Luton Town have already proved they can be a thorn in AFCB's side when they managed a 0-0 draw at Kenilworth Road in December. Bournemouth are also finding it more difficult to score against sides that get men behind the ball. 

Bournemouth may need to rely more on the experience of Josh King to get the goals they need.

Luton haven't played away yet in 2021. Their last away game was a 2-1 defeat against Reading on Boxing Day. They have been finding goals hard to come with. They have scored just one goal on their last two games, but it did give them a 1-0 home win over Reading. Luton sit 14th in the table which should not be a difficult home game for Bournemouth, but we know that the pressure is on the Cherries now, having fallen further behind in the race to keep pace with the leaders.

James Collins is clearly the player that is the one to watch in the Hatter's team with nine goals this season. Luton managed eight shots against Bournemouth last time they played each other and four of them were on target, which was a better ratio than Bournemouth's 16 shots and two on target. So, this game might be about taking one of the very few chances created. Somehow Bournemouth need to make better chances than they did at Kenilworth Road, and that may mean taking more risks and that is the danger with a striker like Collins at the other end.

This game is a bit of a warm-up for Luton who have Brentford and Chelsea in the cup to follow. But the Cherries have to win these mid-table teams if they are going to make a competition of it with Norwich and Swansea. Nathan Jones is certainly hyped for the challenge and it seems Championship teams are just getting very excited about playing Bournemouth and raising their game for the matches against us.
