The end of 2020
It's New Year's Eve. Just about everyone is counting down the hours, minutes, seconds until we can take 2020 and dump it in the trash. Not the recycling bin, not the donation bin, in the trash. It probably takes a bit more effort to look at the positives of this year, but I'm an optimist. Okay, maybe that word is a bit strong, but I tend not to dwell on the negative if I can help it.
So here are my positives from 2020:
I wrote and published my first book and made enough in sales to cover expenses. I also got some really nice reviews. Most of all, I got the story I've been sitting on for 10 years out of my head and onto paper. I call that a win.
I read 411 books this year because I had the time to do it. That's 98,457 pages of text according to Goodreads. Even I'm impressed with myself.
I got accepted into a juried art show I've been trying to get into for a few years, even if it was cancelled due to Covid. I'm an automatic entry into next year's event and that makes me happy.
I met some wonderful people on line through Facebook and author groups. And I connected with people I hadn't heard from in decades.
I was blessed with time to be creative, to rest, to consider and to think. Isolation, when your stuck in a house with someone you love, isn't all that bad.
I stayed healthy and so did my husband. (Falling off the porch and breaking his ribs doesn't count.)
2020 won't go down in history as a great year, but it gave us time to hit the reset button. What you do after that is up to you. Glass half full. Always glass half full.
Happy New Year.
