How to remove wax from your child’s ear at home

In this blog post, I’m going to share with you how to remove wax from your child’s ear at home. This is based on my experience as a mother.

I was lying in bed at stupid o’clock and thinking about the rollercoaster of a year we’ve had when I decided to write this post. My daughter was sleeping soundly next to me and I smiled to myself. I felt grateful that all the health problems we had from 2018 seem to be a distant memory now.

A couple of times this year, my daughter told me that she couldn’t hear me when I called her. I always wondered if she simply pretended she couldn’t hear me because she was engrossed in what she was doing or if there was something else going on.

To be on the safe side, the first thing I did was go to my local pharmacy to see what ear drops they had in stock to remove wax from a child’s ear. I wanted an ear drop that had the least amount of chemicals in it and wouldn’t break the bank either. After going through what they had and speaking with a member of staff, I bought an olive oil ear drop.

That night, whilst my daughter was in bed, a put a few drops of the ear drop in one of her ears. The following morning, I used a cotton bud to remove wax that had softened in that ear. I repeated the process with the other ear that night.

If after removing wax from your child’s ear your child’s hearing does not improve, do speak with your child’s doctor.
