It was one year ago today that we adopted Sir Duke, the yellow (white) Lab. The next day, he got skittish and ran away for 21 hours, finally making his way home (sort of: wrong house, right street) on his own.I asked Duke to comment on his anniversary, but he was too busy gnawing his celebratory bone (filled with beef); it’s very thick & smells like, well, dead cow.
Duke is VERY happy here now. He’s taken over the sofa, sometimes the bed, and, like Raven before him, he has turned the backyard into his kingdom. Squirrels beware. (Fortunately for them, I have a high wooden fence, and they just taunt him from the top. Squirrels can be kinda mean. Sir Duke thinks so too.) He is a terrific sniffer; he could sniff the air for hours. He also likes to watch planes.
Among the attached photos, I included one in the backyard, so you can see just how white he is.
