Doing Research

In our work as a content/academic writer, we have come across more than one instruction given by the professor that tells his or her students that the only accepted research material is dated to within the past 5 years.

As former educators, we find that instruction to be harming education rather than building strong minds or good research habits. In fact, it may be a form of censorship, brainwashing, and manipulation to say the best things about those types of instructions.

The reason we say that is because recent scholarship, academic papers relying solely on new information omits a lot of pertinent data and other information. Being limited in where you can get your support information means you miss out on the truth, and you are merely fed what the professor wants you to know.

That is not education at all. Education opens the door to all information, all facts or statements, and lets the students make up their own minds. The professor should not be making it up for them. Nor should they be limiting your research material...
