The correct expression is “intents and purposes.”

For all intents and purposes, I’ve finished my holiday shopping.  CORRECT

But I wouldn’t recommend using this expression. One problem is that it’s pompous. Another is that it’s repetitious. What’s the difference between an intent and a purpose? None that I can see!

Another problem is that “all intents and purposes” is confusing. Compare the two sentences. Do they have different meanings? If so, what’s the difference?

For all intents and purposes, I’ve finished my holiday shopping.

I’ve finished my holiday shopping.

If you’re trying to say that there may still be a gift or two to buy, say so!

I’ve finished most of my holiday shopping.  BETTER
