Playlists

Lately, a lot of people have asked what I listen to when I'm writing. The answer to that is a little complicated.
When I'm actually writing, I listen to purple noise to keep me from getting distracted. Link here: https://youtu.be/0eJV2tECL68
As far as music goes, I make playlists for every book before I start writing, usually during the outlining process. I'll go back and listen to certain songs that go with certain scenes to get me in the right headspace to write them.
Some of my biggest influences are songwriters. Freddie Mercury, Don McLean, Bernie Taupin, Paul McCartney, and Kurt Cobain all have a huge impact on how I see a story in my mind. Scenes play out in my brain with accompanying music like in a movie, so it just makes sense for me to create what are essentially soundtracks to the books I write. So, if anyone's interested in seeing what the inside of my head looks like, here are the links to playlists for all of my published books. Happy listening!
