Friday The 13th And Superstitions
Today is Friday the 13th, a day some people
consider to be ‘bad luck.’
One of my loved ones was born on a 13th so I have a very
different view of the day. The day she was born was a very lucky day for me.
I DO hold other superstitions.
I consider ladybugs to be good luck. Being from the farm, I
know ladybugs eat some insects that are harmful to crops.
I ‘knock on wood’ after I say something is going well. This
reminds me that things might change and I should be grateful for the current
state.
I NEED to see the Dear Wonderful Hubby off, giving him a
kiss and a wave, whenever he leaves the house. If I don’t do this, I feel…unsettled
until he returns. I worry that it might be the last time I ever see him. Danielle
has the same superstition in the movie Ever After. Her stepmother and stepsisters
don’t follow it when her father leaves and well, we all know what happens to
Cinderella’s father.
I don’t like to leave cook time on the microwave. I heard
when I was a kid that if the microwave is stopped before the set time and that
time is left on it, it could turn on and blow up. There’s no science to this. I
know this is a myth. (sheepish grin) Yet I still have to delete the remaining
time.
