Darcy Conroy It would be great if you could add to your point about joining Goodreads and Library Thing that they do need to JOIN these as a member of a READING community. I cannot tell you how put off I am by the number of friend requests I get from authors who have not contributed to the community and don't have any books but their own on their profile. I ignore these without looking at their book and have had to block many, many (always self-published) authors who have continued to spam me with friend requests.

The BEST free marketing you can get is the word of mouth from writing a book readers want to recommend.
