,Book Description
Lauren Bodow is a small-town girl with a big city voice who has had a streak of bad luck when it comes to men. After a series of disastrous relationships, she finds herself floundering, unsure of where her life is going. While everything is routine and comfortable, she still feels… empty. Alone. The only bright spot in her week is when she gets to sing at a local coffee house. Singing has always been her escape. Things take a turn for the confusing when not one but two guys come along, and she isn’t sure if her luck is changing, or if the streak is continuing.
On one hand she has Paul, her best friend and roommate, who has such faith in Lauren and her talent that he signs her up for a social media streamed singing competition. Paul has always been there for her, and she doesn’t know what she would do without him. When Paul begins to make romantic overtures, she finds herself uncertain how to respond. An uncertainty which grows as she becomes aware of the fact that his feelings for her are not the only secret he has been harboring.
On the other hand, Lauren has Ray, a Grammy-winning country music pop star and a judge in the show whose rise to fame was largely based on his sexy good looks. Despite his fame and fortune, Ray is just as lost as she is, and his vulnerable side unexpectedly captivates her. The connection between them is as confounding as it is intoxicating, and he brings up feelings in her she thought that she would never feel again. While Ray helps her find her voice and build her confidence, Lauren helps him discover what it is he’s been missing. But Ray has secrets of his own, secrets which threaten their growing connection.
As the two men battle for Lauren’s attention, all their secrets come to light. Secrets which could ultimately either bind them together, or destroy them all…
