Book Review: Walk the Wire by David Balducci

Published in 2020. Two FBI agents are sent into London, North Dakota to investigate a murder. A woman’s body was found in a desolated area by a hunter, tracking down a wolf. The local police don’t understand why the FBI is involved and neither do the two agents. Amos Decker, also known as the Memory Man, and his partner, Alex Jamieson proceed with the investigation hoping that someone in D.C. will tell them why they’re investigating. The woman’s name is Irene Cramer and was a school teacher during the day and at night, changed persona to a prostitute. Her body had been cut open as if done by a coroner and there was only one in town. Mr. Southern was also the local undertaker.

Interesting book, but the author went off on a tangent investigating another story that may have involved the victim slightly. And why North Dakota? Because of the oil and natural gas in the area. It’s what Texas used to be. Thousands of men have flocked to the area for the big paychecks, followed by women.

I’ve liked many of the author’s books and will continue to look for more.
