Not Just Yet (poem)

Not Just Yet

Everyone expected
her to move to town.
Mom was in her eighties,
walked with a cane
and a new hip. She said
she guessed she’d better
begin sorting and thinking
about moving to town.

But that October,
by herself, she planted
a bed of red tulips.
A hundred of them.
