The Great Migration Out of the U.S.
I read a sad article on how many Black Americans are leaving the United States due to racism in the United States. I will not ever understand how it feels to be a Black American. Yes, there are people who are unkind to people for differences. Any difference whether by appearance, cultural, theory, belief, or idea causes division.
Prejudice is alive, but it’s alive in a person not a culture. A group of people can have similar prejudicial beliefs that becomes their culture, but usually those groups are a small percentage of the general population.
After I read this article I researched which countries in the world are the most prejudice. The United States is not listed as one of the most prejudice.
The United States is actually listed as the least prejudice.
Not in just one study, but multiple different studies from different universities and scholars around the world. So people in different countries praise the United States on their tolerance and even admire it.
One article that I found states findings from Dr. Roland Fryer, a Black Harvard Professor. You can disagree with me, but here is an article.
America the least racist country
If you don’t believe me, research the various findings yourself. Don’t listen to the media. Look at the statistics, findings, and articles.
Once again, yes, prejudice exist. Women are not paid as fairly as men. Some minorities may have barriers I do not. But America is the great melting pot where anyone is able to get an education to better themselves. I truly believe that with knowledge comes power. With knowledge comes a better future.
The United States is a great country where anyone who wants to go to college can go to college. You may not all get to go to Harvard, but at the end of the day most of the time there is very little difference between the college you graduate from. A degree and good work ethic and understanding speaks more than where you went for four years.
Most employers could care less where your piece of paper is from. Most employers care if you will be able to strive at your job and better their company.
I’m not the smartest person. I tell my coworkers and friends all the time that I may not be the smartest, but I try to compensate by working harder. College didn’t come easy for me, so I usually had to study twice as long. It may not be comparable, but sadly we all have weaknesses and strengths. We just have to learn to use our strengths and learn how to use our weaknesses.
But that is the good thing about America, we have freedom to come and freedom to go.
We all experience prejudice. I am an white single man and I get comments that when I repeat them to other people they are shocked. But the United States is not prejudice. There are adult bullies just as there are bullies in grade school. Kids who were rude in the second grade will most likely be rude when they are 40. But I’m not going to let them stop me.
You cannot change people’s perspective. All you can change is how you will react.
So to those who leave America, I wish you well. I hope you find what you are looking for. But I fear you’ll find the grass isn’t any greener in Ecuador.
Peace
