Hi everyone! It gives me great pleasure to help my fellow author and friend, John Howell, showcase his latest book today: Eternal Road–The Final Stop.

Thank you so much for having me on your blog, Harmony, and for helping me launch Eternal Road – The final stop. I know you are busy with your own manuscript, so I appreciate you taking the time to help with this launch.

Let me describe my book. Eternal Road is the story of two people finding their way through the selection process leading to the place where one will spend eternity. Yes, it is true. They both have passed away. James Wainwright just died in an auto accident. Samantha Tourneau died seventeen years before. Sam is James’s guide to help him decide where to spend eternity. This is not your usual thriller or paranormal romance. It is a piece of fiction that is a combination of inspiration, adventure, time travel, sci-fi, a touch of erotica, and a dash of spiritual. In short, it is a lot of things, but hopefully, a story that will make you happy to have read it.

It is now available on Amazon in paper and Kindle. The Kindle edition is at an introductory price of 99¢ until October 15th

James Wainwright picks up a hitchhiker and discovers two things 1. The woman he picks up is his childhood sweetheart, only Seventeen years older. 2. He is no longer of this world.

James began a road trip alone in his 1956 Oldsmobile. He stops for a hitchhiker only to discover she is his childhood sweetheart, Sam, who disappeared seventeen years before. James learns from Sam falling asleep miles back caused him to perish in a one-car accident. He also comes to understand that Sam was taken and murdered all those years ago, and now she has come back to help him find his eternal home.

The pair visit a number of times and places and are witness to a number of historical events. The rules dictate that they do no harm to the time continuum. Trying to be careful, they inadvertently come to the attention of Lucifer, who would love to have their souls as his subjects. They also find a threat to human survival and desperately need to put in place the fix necessary to save humankind.

The question becomes, will James find his eternal home in grace or lose the battle with Satan for his immortal soul and the future of human life with it? If you like time-travel, adventure, mystery, justice, and the supernatural, this story is for you.

An Excerpt:

James puts his hand over his eyes to cut the sun’s glare. “I think he must be Davy Crockett.”

James and Sam approach the wall and shout up to the figure above. Davy looks down and frowns. “What do you want?”

Sam cups her hands around her mouth and yells, “Mr. Travis sent us to you. He said you could use a couple more hands.”

Davy wipes beads of sweat from his forehead, points to the end of the structure, and yells back, “See that ladder over there? Climb up here where we can have a decent talk.”

James and Sam wave to let him know they see the ladder. They go to it, and James turns to Sam. “He doesn’t look remotely like Fess Parker.”

Sam laughs despite herself. “Hush. Someone may hear you.”

James laughs and puts his hand on the ladder. “Okay. You want to go first?”

Sam grabs James’s shoulder. “Isn’t it customary for ladies to go first?”

James bows to mock Sam’s words and holds the ladder as she ascends. Though the rungs look like grass, they hold her weight. She takes her time. At the top, she throws a leg over the last rung and stands on the platform. “Come on up.”

Quickly, James joins her on the top. They go over to Davy Crockett, who stands deep in discussion with a couple of the men. He waves the pair of them over. “You might as well hear this. We built this platform so we can fire our muskets over the wall. That covers the good news. The bad news is half your body gets exposed when you stand to fire. We should have built the platform a little lower to keep us fully protected, but it’s too late to change it now. My suggestion is that you do all your firing from a kneeling position. Travis assigned you two to me?—Did I hear you right?”

James straightens to attention. “Yes, sir.”

Davy takes note of his enthusiasm. “Okay, then. Do you have a weapon?”

“No, sir, but I’m a good shot, and Sam, here, can do the loading.”

“Okay, we can use you both. Go to the magazine in the chapel and tell the man there that you need two muskets, powder, and balls. What you will do is … I’m sorry, I didn’t get your name.”

“James, sir.”

“Okay, James, while you fire, Sam will reload. You will pass each other the muskets. That clear?”

James nods. “Yes, sir, very.”

“Okay, then go get your weapons. After that, stop by the kitchen and grab some food. You both look like you haven’t had a meal for a while.”

John’s bio:

John is an award-winning author who, after an extensive business career, began writing full time in 2012. His specialty is thriller fiction novels, but John also writes poetry and short stories. He has written five other books that are on Amazon in paperback and Kindle editions. The paperback versions are also available in the Indie Lector store
