I am sure many will disagree, but this adaptation of Mr. Mercedes falls quite flat. At least for me. The first season rolls along OK even with the noticeably limited budget, well, making you notice. This is the kind of series where in the hands of more resourceful producers would have made a show that looks far more pricey than it is. By season 3, a pleasant though not entirely fulfilling or satisfying way to pass the time becomes utterly aggravating in all the missed opportunities. As I already mentioned, Holly's arc and relationship to Bill gets utterly lost. We're TOLD about their connection as opposed to having witnessed it or being able to sense it. Most bafflingly, the second and third book in the Bill Hodge trilogy gets switched in place. I assumed at first that the second book was being skipped due to a certain character's absence through much of the plot. Not so. I couldn't believe it when I realized they were using it for the third season. I think it has to do with the certain actor playing a certain character didn't want to be tied up for a full year waiting for the show to need him again. Narratively speaking, it just doesn't work. I get the production need, but I don't get it in terms of the arc. It's ass backwards. And my brother, who hadn't read the books, he could sense things being amiss.

I know I watched the first couple episodes and hated it when it first
Came out.

Nice to hear about new publications. We follow you since 25 years!
