Prosperity Engine — Update — Creating the Future
Building the Desired Future may seem to be the aspect of our work that contains the most “fun,” but we need to cultivate deep gratitude for every part of the process.
Building the Desired Future without the burden of a pesky, negative, background chatter from the dark subconscious, should become far easier. Once the past is entirely cleaned up, creating any future should become effortless.
But cleaning up the past may take awhile. In the meantime, we can practice becoming more and more proficient at building our Desired Future. Then, our Prosperity Engine will make it happen.
Most of the current teachers and coaches on this material describe this aspect as a two-step process:
Getting a really clear picture of the desired end result, andBeing grateful for it, right now, as if it has already happened.
Forty-seven years ago, I approached it from a different angle, finding a different, two-step process:
Getting a really clear picture of the desired end result, andNot-knowing the image.
Notice that the first step is exactly the same. The second step seems entirely different. But both of these work!
What’s really going on?
Prosperity Engine: Behind the Scenes

Behind the scenes, both gratitude for something that has not yet happened and “not-knowing” our “clear picture” achieve the same results. Some common element in both of these is actually what achieves the manifestation.
Let’s compare these.
The “not-knowing” part is derived from a Scientology bulletin detailing the relationships between Knowing on various levels of spirit, and Emotion. At the top of the Emotional Tone Scale we find “Serenity of Beingness.” It’s equivalent or compatible state of knowledge is “Know” (knowing everything).
The second level on both tables proves to be a bit of an enigma—at least it did to me nearly half a century ago. The “emotion” of “Postulates” was paired up with “Not Know” (“not-knowing” everything).
“Postulates” essentially referred to the creation and manifestation of some idea, thing or condition. This is essentially the much desired “holy grail” of our work—the Prosperity Engine—the expected answer to our prayers.
But this is paired up with a most unlikely creature called “Not Know.”
Hollywood Has It All Wrong!

Growing up on Hollywood movies didn’t help. With all those gods performing miracles, like Zeus throwing lightning bolts, none of them seemed to go slack-jawed and stupid right before they did their “thing.” So, what does this “Not Know” really mean? Or did Hollywood have the gods all wrong?
Well, Hollywood gets just about everything wrong, when it comes to ghosts, spirits, prayers, faith and magic. Using the power of spirit requires ZERO effort. Let me spell that out for you: Z-E-R-O! Nada! Zilch! Effort means doubt and doubt means sinking into the sea after having walked on water for a few moments. That happened to the disciple Peter. Meanwhile, Jesus had to rescue his incompetent follower from drowning in the storm-tossed waves of the Sea of Galilee. And, when both men had joined the others on their tiny ship, the storm immediately stopped, because Jesus no longer needed it.
In the movie, Ghost, Patrick Swayze’s character is murdered. As a ghost, he tries to find some way to gain control over his problem. Another ghost he meets in a subway station teaches him how to move physical objects with intention, but the lesson is full of effort! In other words: backwards! As I said, effort equals doubt which equals failure as spirit to cause some action to manifest in physical reality.
“Not-knowing” everything (about a desired output) means: “removing all conscious awareness from the creation of a desired output.” It could also mean: “stopping the Knowing of that thing.”
There may seem to be a lot going on here, but it’s actually quite simple.
Look what happens when we are grateful for a creation for which we do not yet see the manifestation. We are taking our awareness off of the creation step (step #1), and feeling as though it has already happened.
Let’s take a closer look at this idea—this “as though it has already happened” business. Essentially, we are telling God that we have faith (utter humility plus fearless confidence) that it is done. We no longer need to do step #1, because we are confident that it has all been taken care of. We are sidestepping doubt by being grateful.
From a different perspective, we are adding the time dimension to the desired object or condition by giving up our “responsibility” for that creation. Thus, as I discovered, while writing Four Elements of God, time and responsibility are opposites. In fact, all four of the physical “elements” or dimensions are opposite to the spiritual elements of God.
Space—Reduced or eliminated by Unconditional Love.Time—Eliminated by taking Perfect Responsibility for the thing.Energy—Motion or potential is eliminated by Utter Humility, which is stillness.Mass (or gravity well)—Overcome by Fearless Confidence of spirit.

Another word for “responsibility,” then, would be “truth”—the truth that sets us free. For when we find the truth (our responsibility) for an object or condition, we remove the time dimension from that object or condition. It then reverts to the “instant of creation” which is “paper thin” in the time stream. The next moment, we have moved forward in time, and the “instant of creation” for that object or condition is now in the past. We have moved out of that instant and thus no longer see the object or condition; we are free from it.
This concept may take some getting used to. As a physicist, discovering this concept drove me a bit crazy (I say tongue-in-cheek). But what an idea. Time no longer seems so substantial or overwhelming.
And we already have evidence of this effect with the old truism: “Time flies when we’re having fun.” When we’re experiencing something fun, we are creating. We are relaxed. We are no longer at effect. Our spiritual attention is outward and ego has been subdued.
On the other hand, when we are in pain, or bored to tears waiting for something to happen, time drags. Someone with a stopwatch won’t find any difference in the seconds that pass, but the individual perception does change markedly. “Mommy, Daddy, are we there, yet?” See? Frustration. The kid’s attention is on not being there yet.

So, whenever we are suffering through some ordeal—physical, mental or otherwise—all we need to do is to take responsibility for that event. We merely need to create the thing happening to us. Creating speeds up time, puts us in the driver’s seat, eliminates any possibility of us being victim any longer, and makes the entire process more fun (or at least less overwhelming). This also moves us a whole lot closer to God. Thus, we can use our level of suffering as a measuring stick for our “distance” from God.
Summing It Up
This is Creational Mechanics 101. And this is how we build our Prosperity Engine.
When we can reduce the “creation” from past beliefs (negative feelings), and increase the “volume” of creating from our conscious mind—the picture plus gratitude—then we have our Prosperity Engine all set up.
The more we clean up the past, as in the last article, and work from the calm present, the smoother our Prosperity Engine will run.
Coming Up Next
In the next article, we will take a closer look at one of our most potent spiritual tools—humility. Some people have a bit of confusion on this topic. We will clear that up and show how humility can help us streamline our Prosperity Engine.
