Melissa Sullivan I’m actually tired of love tropes as a whole. And hear me out, as folks go ‘but there has to be a love interest! 🙀).

Does there *really* have to be a love interest? Why? Why aren’t main characters solid just on their own. Maybe it’s because I am single by choice, and also feeling for my asexual peers out there (I’m not ace, btw), but love can also be a huge distraction, in life and in plot. Also, love triangles should be banned. I don’t know anyone who has ever actually been in one so I tend to think they’re more like wish fulfillment than a solid life-mirroring trope. 🤷🏼‍♀️

This message brought to you by: boredom in quarantine. ;)

Melissa Sullivan Also, this gripe doesn’t apply to the romance genre, obvi, but things like SF and fantasy. Sorry I totally mentally liked all over your post; it was just something I’ve been thinking about for months and this was the first opportunity to discuss it. :)

Keep writing!
