Among Nickelodeon’s first foray into their original cartoons, Ren & Stimpy was by far the most influential. Appealing to kids and adults, the slapstick surrealness of a short-fused dog and a stupid cat revolutionized the industry, paving the way for the strange success of Spongebob Squarepants.
