How to Find What’s Politically True

No, I’m not talking about learning to be more politically correct. Before the upcoming elections, we need to know what’s actually true.

If you follow me on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and/or Tumblr (thank you very much!) you may have noticed I have consistently avoided political statements (until now.) For one thing, I believe everyone needs to make up his or her own mind. And, too, I've found my mind unsettled!

Slanted reporting, name-calling, and fake news on both sides have made it hard to know what's true and what isn't. So, as we get closer to the 2020 elections, I decided to investigate more thoroughly.

To cut through the hype and find out what each party truly stands for, I went to the Internet search box and typed in, "Platform of ______" one party then the other. I discovered that one party needed a new platform to draw inner factions together; the other readopted their previously agreed-upon platform.

Both of those PDF files might take a moment to come up, but it’s more than worth the wait. It’s crucial! If you read both party statements for yourself, you will most likely know which one speaks for you.

Regardless of our beliefs or preferences – regardless of the outcome on the 2020 elections, God’s Word tells us clearly what we’re to do:

“First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, requests, and thanksgivings be offered to God for all people; for kings and all others who are in authority, that we may live a quiet and peaceful life with all reverence toward God and with proper conduct. This is good and it pleases God our Savior,"
1 Timothy 2:1-3, Good News Translation.

May the Lord put our minds at rest and re-mind us that God IS in charge.

[Note: A word search for “authority” on Bible Gateway provided many translations of the above verses, each of which says the same thing: i.e., Pray for our leaders! Pray for all peoples everywhere!]
