Chapter 6

The inside of the cottage had a damp, musty smell, as if it had been shut up for a long time.  The front doorway opened into the main room of the cottage, a large fireplace at the far end of the room.  A light haze of smoke hovered around the low ceiling, the grey curls swirling and eddying as Ben strode across the room and rammed the shotgun into a gun rack.  A small window at the back of the room gave a view out across a small muddy yard.  Beyond the yard the flat fields, overgrown with...
