No matter how far you may wander or roam,

When I was much younger than I am today

My time was too precious to flitter away.

I rushed and I hurried at work and at play

Until one day I heard a friend of mine say,

"The long way around is the sweetest way home.

You see things much better that way."

No matter how far you may wander or roam,

We'll stop on the way

Just to savor the day,

And we'll watch and we'll listen

To what people say.

We'll smell all the roses

And not be alone.
