Hello awesome nerds, happy Saturday and welcome to another book review.
I’ve been dying to share this review with you for weeks now. Life though had other plans and so I only managed to sit down now, and write my thoughts and feelings about the third instalment in the Twilight saga.
Although the majority of the bookish community is familiar with this series, and pretty much everyone has either read the books or watched the movies (or both), here’s what’s happening in Eclipse, the third book in the series (which -fun fact- was supposed to be the final book of the series):
“
“BELLA?”
Edward’s soft voice came from behind me. I turned to see him spring lightly up the porch steps, his hair windblown from running. He pulled me into his arms at once, just like he had in the parking lot, and kissed me again.
This kiss frightened me. There was too much tension, too strong an edge to the way his lips crushed mine – like he was afraid we had only so much time left to us.
As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob – knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death. But which is which?
READERS CAPTIVATED BY Twilight AND New Moon will eagerly devour Eclipse, the much-anticipated third book in Stephenie Meyer’s riveting vampire love saga.”

Although technically speaking Eclipse doesn’t have something special to show, still, nostalgia hit me hard once again. Only this time, I fully realised that I had made a huge mistake back when I was in High School and I first read the Twilight Saga. I mean, come on! I can’t believe, not even for a second, that I thought Jacob could be the better, safer, healthier, wiser choice for Bella. Because, now that I think about it, J stands for JERK!
Honestly though, all I can say about Eclipse is that… JACOB IS THE ULTIMATE MANIPULATOR! Throughout the entire book, he was trying to make Bella choose him instead of Edward by making her feel either guilty or sorry for him. Well, excuse me pal but, if you make a girl feel guilty that she’s not choosing you as her life partner, you won’t end up wining the girl. Period! I’m still super pissed about this final part of the book and so very upset that Bella fell for the dog’s sh*t, that I still can’t put words into proper order to create coherent sentences!
There were parts I enjoyed more than others, like Rosalie’s and Jasper’s backstories, the training scenes, the final battle and the third wife’s story. Rosalie’s story was the EPITOME of survival and a reminder to us all that we shouldn’t stay silent and we should raise our voice, especially when being assaulted and abused. And speaking of abusing relationships, I’m truly sorry that it took me years to realise that Jasper’s and Maria’s relationship was also an abusing one; a relationship that was based solely on personal gain. Now that Stephenie Meyer has returned to this world, it would be really nice to see if she’s gonna write a full-length novel about some of the “secondary” characters, like Rosalie and Jasper (aka the Hale twins), Carlisle, or even the Denali sisters. Personally, I’d find that really refreshing, instead of reading about Renesme’s and Jacob’s love story. That d*&%head is and will always seem like a manipulator to me.
That’s probably the reason why there were parts in Eclipse that felt extremely long to me. Focusing so much on the love triangle between Edward, Bella and Jacob, made me forget, for just a split second, that there was war looming in the vampire world. Not only with our known (and probably beloved) Victoria, but also with the Volturi. Oh my Gosh! I’m so ready to share with you all my thoughts about the Volturi’s agenda and everything the did in Breaking Dawn.
All in all, I enjoyed rereading Eclipse, sometimes more than other. Still, I’m ready for the final book now, before returning back to the beginning to see things from Edward’s perspective.
