[image error]I have seen at first hand a group of birds mob a drone over the now, sadly polluted, waters by Mauritius’ Ile d’Aigrettes.
A bald eagle in Michigan, though, went one better, attacking a drone which had invaded its territory to document shoreline erosion in the Upper Peninsula. After a brief tussle, in what was described as a “brazen attack”, the eagle ripped off one of the drone’s propellers and sent it plummeting into the depths of Lake Michigan, near Escanaba.
Ironically, the drone, worth $950, was owned by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy, which goes by the acronym EGLE. Game, set, and match to the eagle over EGLE.
The department are considering adding some additional camouflage to their machines to reduce the prospect of further attacks from the birds which, conservationists say, are increasing in numbers in the area. No bad thing, too.
