Broken Butterfly Wings

I don’t know much about butterflies or aerodynamics but looking closely at this picture I took by the roadside earlier this week, I noticed the left top wing. I was touched by the poignancy of life and death and the beauty and suffering in between.

This little orange and black fellow really made me ponder how he might have lost so much wing, how he manages to fly, if he finds protection in the company of other butterflies, etc. It makes me think of how we as humans have to...
