About Can’t Let Go
When Ralph met Sonya, he fell instantly in love. He did not know that she had a past, and that one day, that past would rise to haunt them both and try to tear their family apart forever.
Excerpt
They discussed future plans, they talked about their dreams and, a few hours later, Ralph believed that he had learned everything about Sonya. He now knew that she was not just a beautiful woman since Sonya was the most interesting person he had ever met. She was aware of books, politics and even sports. She loved baseball and all kinds of music too.
It was only the second day they had spent together and he was pretty sure that Sonya was the one, the special one. Ralph was absolutely certain that Sonya was the girl he was waiting for.
“Do you have any plans for tonight?” He sounded confident when he shouldn’t.
Sonya’s blue eyes locked on his and, before long, Ralph felt breathless and weak. He couldn’t speak, he couldn’t breathe and he couldn’t even swallow. Her gaze made him freeze; she could affect his body language and play with his patience.
I screwed up everything, Ralph thought as he was sure that he had destroyed his future by rushing to get her and, now, he waited patiently like a beggar for an answer while, at the same time, she did nothing other than staring at his pale face.
The following minutes Ralph felt like a criminal who had done something awful and Sonya’s stance reminded him of the movies he liked seeing where criminals used to stand in front of a judge without saying anything while an unknown person would define the rest of their lives.
Ralph assumed that he had scared her. I shouldn’t have asked her going out with me yet. She doesn’t even know me, he kept thinking and wished he would turn back time and take back his proposal and everything else he had said.
“You seem a nice guy and you are handsome. I like your messy black hair and your green eyes, but…” Sonya bit her lips and gazed at him in silence while he was thrilled--at least she liked him.
“We will do whatever you want,” Ralph smiled and crossed his heart, making her smile and think seriously about his idea.
Sonya looked into his eyes again and, a few seconds later, she laughed and nodded at him since she knew she could trust him.
On the other hand, Ralph realized that he had to calm her; he had to be funny to reassure her that he would never hurt her feelings and he also wanted to make her sure that he was a nice guy and that she was in no danger.
“I don’t even know you,” Sonya whispered, but she couldn’t say no as well.
“I will not hurt you. I just want to be with you,” Ralph chose to be honest and, as time passed by, he found out that he had made the right move. Now, Sonya had no reason to refuse.
“Okay.”
When he heard the magic word coming out from her well-shaped lips through her sweet voice, Ralph became the happiest man on earth.
They were both based in New York City and knew no one else there. A few days ago they were two strangers, but ready to discover the center of the world as well. Furthermore, they looked forward to discovering themselves as they were thirsty to run into love. They were impatient to coming across new experiences. They were both curious about sex and they couldn’t stop wondering about the advantages and the disadvantages of being in a relationship. They wanted to find out everything.
“You made the right choice,” Ralph said with a little laugh.
“I’m sure I can trust you.”
That moment he believed she had already become his girlfriend; he thought they would share the rest of their lives together.
“I’m here to protect you, my queen,” he said and he really meant every word he confessed.
Then again, Sonya turned red while he held tight to her hands.
Their crazy adventure, their strange story had just started…
