Sneak Peek - All I Ask of You

Silence surrounded us. I let his words digest before I asked my next question. “Why are you here, Amell?” His head tilted a little to the left, brows bunched, and eyes narrowed as he pondered over my question.

Lord knows I appreciated Him bringing Amell to me. I really did but we only had one true conversation and prior to that, he ignored me like a man dodging the child support office. Since laying eyes on him and hearing what had happened, I knew who to blame for my insomnia and sleepless nights. My spirit had been weary because of him. And the fact that I felt that attuned to his, I was scared.

Licking his lips he took a step back. “You don’t want me here?”

Oh, now he wanted to taunt me.

“No. Not like this. I want you here because you want to be here with me. We both know that I’ve been alone in the crushing department for years now. You don’t like me like that so what is it?”

A quick flash of mirth danced on his beautiful dark skin. “I’m too old for you, Krishna.” His lips said one thing but his actions and this magnetic charge floating in my apartment screamed another.

“Seasoned meat never harmed anybody.” I shrugged my shoulders trying to keep my cool. He made me giggle. He made my belly flutter with butterflies.

Chuckling for only my ears to hear, he nodded. “I needed that laugh. After my mother left I had this strong urge to kill someone. Harm them. Make them feel pain like I was feeling.” He shook his head and glanced up at the ceiling. “That’s never good for anyone.”

“Are you going to harm me? Is that why you came?” From the follicles on my head to my toenails I knew Amell would never hurt me.

Stepping all in my space, he removed the gun from my hand and caressed my cheek. “I came here because when my eyes closed and I tried to focus on something good and positive, your face popped up. I felt this calmness come over me. It lessened the urge but not by much.” We were now chest to chest. My breathing hitched. Heart skipping several beats.

“I could’ve called but this invisible string on my heart that I never knew existed kept tugging me your way. Kept pulling me to you until I boarded a plane and came here. Now that I’ve seen you,” he leaned down, running the cool tip of his nose along my neck causing me to gasp and stumble. His strong arms circled my waist pulling me flush against his sturdy, hard chest. “I have no urges to harm anyone. All I need is tonight to get my mind right and I’ll be gone in the morning. I don’t want your body. I want your whole entity that you possess as a woman. All I ask of you is to give me one night. I’m here because for some strange off reason I feel like I need you. Whatever you wished for on your eighteenth birthday is coming true.”

I giggled with my head tossed back. Good God, I did wish for this.

Wish to be in his arms. Wish to have a chance at claiming his heart.

“Oh.” I released a gasp that sounded too familiar like a moan. While I stood there with my head tossed back giggling, he wrapped his beefy hand around my neck.

“I’d never hurt you.” He promised against my ear. My hands latched tight to his biceps and my eyes were rolled into the back of my head. Right when I felt myself float to a land unknown I was dropped back on earth when he took several steps back from me. My strong knight was battling an internal war with himself about me and what he felt. I saw it in those onyx orbs. “I shouldn’t be here, and it’s bothering me that I’m starting to feel this enamored vital attraction to you.”

I had him within my grasp. No way was I letting him go this easy. “If I take your mind off the other things…” With my big girl panties on I placed myself within his bubble that he tried to keep me out of. “Let me be what you need. You said only for tonight. Let me give that to you.” Holding my hand out, I waited for him to find a slither of trust in me.

“Okay.”
