“Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, Whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy” (Psalm 107:2). The Hebrew word for “redeemed” means to “buy back,” “deliver,” “save,” or “reclaim as one’s own.” This is the same word used when God delivered Israel from Egypt (Ex. 6:6). It’s the very word employed when someone redeemed a piece of land, or if a slave was set free (Lev. 25).
