A Few Thoughts on Publishing your E-book
There are no spoilers in this post. It's all new and not included in the book. So a free tip included in the post.
This week, my latest book got released on Amazon How to Publish an E-book on a Budget of $0: Making your Dreams a Reality. Still working on other formats.
Authorship is a work in progress. In my latest book, I have given some ideas for ways to help yourself and help others as well as how to publish a book. It’s a Canadian Perspective. We are a helpful people.
Something I can tell you from experience is that if you choose to publish with a multi-format publishing company, there is bound to be some issues with your manuscript. Don’t let that dishearten you. It is something you have to factor in. One of the reasons I don’t do a lot with regard to my book until they are on all platforms. It can take literally days of working with the manuscript and helpdesk. If you’re easily frustrated, you may give up after getting one book on. I’m not trying to discourage anyone. It’s just a fact. The more platforms it is put on from one company, the more things have to be done in a certain way and more issues that your book may find. There will be problems. That is not to say that it is not the way to go. It will give you wider distribution than if you try to do it all yourself.
The one thing I caution authors is to have patience with the staff of these platforms. They are doing the best they can while things are being updated, changed and platform changes happen. I’ve been learning over time. If you have an issue, state clearly which of your books, what the issue is and the screen shots if you can give them. The more they have to work with, the better job they can do. They will ask you politely if you don’t provide the correct information. Remember it is a learning curve. The new author can do a lot to help themselves and one of those things is to provide good information to the team that is working in the company. I’m guilty of not providing the information they need. I’m learning.
So, as I like to say, be Realistically Unrealistic. I don’t know how many books the staff has to look into. Everyone tends to forget that there are a lot more books up than your own. So, this is one tip that can get your work dealt with more efficiently. It can cut back on one extra email and frustration for both author and company if you remember to give the information above. Just one extra trip from one writer to the newbies out there. Sorry, Draft2Digital, I’m working on being better about sending you the required information.
If you found this tip to be helpful, you might enjoy my new book which documents a lot of the information you need to Publish your own e-book.

A & J PEI Treasures is located on Prince Edward Island, Canada. We are a husband and wife team and our companion animals. There are a number of things that drew us to the Island…one of which was the natural beauty of the area. Somewhat retiring and reclusive, we enjoy constructing things with our hands, upcycling, photography, writing, and a simpler lifestyle. 2020 and 2021 Canada Book Awards winner!
