(1) Chaos Theory + Interconnectivity
Every action that we take ripples through time. We all matter, very much more than we think we do.
Technology has amplified the effects of the Butterfly Effect, giving everyone the ability to change many lives more quickly than before.

(2) Personal Responsibility
At the same time technological interconnectivity has amplified the Butterfly Effect, people are more nihilistic than we were. We don't think we matter, and we don't recognize the effects we have on others.
We send messages off into the net and forget about them, while their effects are felt later. Many of these are negative or hurtful rather than kind.
It's easy to change.
(3) The Human Limbic System + Western Attitudes on Cognition/Contemplation
In the West, we like to think the cortex controls the limbic system (mind over matter). It's the other way around. By default the lizard brain controls the computer.
The East understands this, hence the ubiquity of meditative traditions in Asia.
Strategic meditation and contemplative practices allow the cortex to override dominant limbic patterns, break HPA Axis threat response feedback loops, and enhance cognition and long-term outcomes. This can also lead to more sleep & neurogenesis.
