Exceptional people are exceptional. Maybe they always will be. IDK. But I’ve been told if you want to be a novelist, you have to write and query/KDP at least 3 books before making it big. I know from my experience it’s much, much more difficult to find the free time for that kind of endeavor now than it was a few years ago.
Rent is $3k/month where I live in So Cal. Starter homes are $800k. Then you add in the student loans, b/c you don’t want to forgo education. My last job was 60-80 hours/week. Then consider health insurance (hundreds per month), the deductible if something goes wrong with you, the cost of food, gas, car.
