Review: DON’T KILL FOR ME by Martha Henley

Eileen is the owner of a flower shop. Out of the blue, she gets courted by a shy admirer named Ray and goes on a pity date with the guy. The sudden death of her married lover unnerves her.


The 1stperson narrative is candid and pensive as she often contemplates what’s going on.


Who was the secret admirer leaving notes at the store? And why did he send the news of her lover’s death in such a way—as an obit? Eileen spends a while grieving her dead lover while also wondering who the secret admirer was. It had such a lag that I often found myself wishing it go faster and get to the point.


It started off good and it certainly had an interesting concept, but I wasn’t impressed with the execution. And why is it called the Death and Donuts series? There were no donuts.
