Book Review: The Last Odyssey by James Rollins

Published in 2020. Sigma Force is back and embarking on a new adventure to save the daughter of a U.S. Senator. Elena Cargill went to Greenland to investigate a new discovery when she was captured by unknown hostiles and disappeared. Missing with her was a golden map called the Storm Atlas, a map that could explain the voyage of an Arab sailor who disappeared, hundreds of years ago even before the Vikings. His ship was found in an ice cave under the Helheim Glacier in Greenland by an American climatologist and his friend, a geologist. As Elena explores the ship, she and her group comes under attack that releases a horde of bronze automatons in the form of crabs as well as a bronze bull. Elena is taken hostage for her expertise. Who took Elena and what do they want?

I couldn’t put this book down. Like all Rollins’ novels, it starts out with some necessary background material before the action starts. But once it gets going, the action continues to the end. I loved it. Well, I’ve loved all of his novels. If you’ve never read one, he combines fact with fiction in a truly masterful way. At the end of each book, he even tells you what is real and what is not, so there’s no mistake. I’m always amazed.
