Sherry Beth Preston In my quest to read all of the Newbery winners, I came across The Cat Who Went to Heaven and Shen of the Sea which both stuck out to me because (without any research) neither of the authors seemed Chinese. I thought the stories in Shen were good, (although male dominated) but I couldn't help but wonder if they were authentic. If they were authentic, I am glad someone told them, but I wish it had been someone else. I am now reading 99 Balloons and I find myself wondering who thought a book about a grown man written for children would be a good idea.
