Book Review: Critical Judgment by Michael Palmer

Published in 1996. Dr. Abby Dolan has just moved to Patience, California with her boyfriend, Josh. He was just employed by Colstar Corporation, the largest employer in town. As an emergency room doctor, Abby notices a distinct change in Josh’s personality and begins to see a link between the symptoms of other people in town. Another ER physician, Lew Alvarez, agrees with her and believes the working conditions at Colstar has something to do with it, but he doesn’t have definitive proof. He invites her to join his group, the Alliance, that is attempting to find that link. At a company picnic, she meets Lyle Quinn, the security manager for the corporation, who warns her about getting involved with Alliance. Still, she's concerned for her patients. Doggedly, she persists on investigating if for no other reason than to help Josh.

It was quite an interesting story and hopefully, purely fictional. There were times when I wanted Abby to just up and leave this awful town but she waited until the end of the book. She had to find an answer.

The author writes well although I did find a number of errors that slipped through the editors at Bantam Books. They didn't affect the story, thankfully.
