I suggest meditation.
I suggest meditation.
Civilization is about to begin a new era, not die off. I see a relatively brief economic downturn followed by a renewed focus on science — and a brilliant, compassionate future.
We’re in the middle of an energy revolution. Solar is finally cheaper than coal. Electric vehicles get more economical every year — making cheaper, denser, and more reliable energy storage a reality. I’m typing this on an iPad charged by a 20k mAH power cell filled by pocket microsolar array. $50 on Amazon. The same setup charges my phone, my VR, my Switch, the ring that tracks my health & sleep. Everything. This was science fiction even in the Obama admin.
Aneutronic laser-boron fusion might finally harness limitless power in our lifetimes, with plasma thrusters now being developed in Wuhan, China possibly replacing jet engines. Stratospheric geoengineering & ocean iron fertilization may help with/even reverse global warming — if we could stop fighting with each other for a moment.
Now, biotech. The pandemic numbers will get bad this fall, but we’ll have a vaccine for SARS-2 in about a year. We’ll probably learn more about treating viruses in 2020 that we have in the history of humanity. And there’s little doubt we will take the threat seriously going forward. That’s an opening to start respecting nature, as a species.
I see a lot of hope from this.
