Colleen Shannon update

It's been so long since I posted anything I just thought I'd say I'm still alive, haven't caught covis though it did break up my critique group. I miss it a lot and haven't written much without it.

I'm gravitating more and more toward suspense and have started a series my editor liked centered around a CDC Epidemiology Intelligence Officer. I'd shelved it because I'd go to the book store and look for other virus thrillers and seldom find them except for Robin Cook and Dan Brown's Inferno.

However, given the current crisis I've pulled it out again. I have over 150 pages and think this time I'll finish it and try for a print deal. I also have a sequel with the same main characters already begun. The first book combines Egyptian archaeology with cutting edge gene splicing bio science that I had reviewed by a PhD candidate at the University of Texas for accuracy. I guess we'll see what happens. It does have a romance but it's definitely a subplot to the larger story as my heroine and her former lover, a disgraced FBI agent, half Egyptian, half Texan, try to prove the world wide pandemic was engineered, not a natural mutation.

And if you have the right bio chemistry, it has a 100% mortality rate, is air transmissible, and there is no known cure....and there is only one antidote, controlled by a fanatical jihadist. Worst of all, my protagonists are both discredited and no one believes them. more later. Colleen
