Juneteenth today, Jubilee Day, Freedom Day. Unfortunately, we have so much more work to do until freedom actually arrives for all people, all races. We have so much more work to do, so much more lifting. This banner and motto belonged to the first and oldest Black Organization, the National Association of Colored Women’s Clubs, and what a beautiful way to live. My goodness we have so much more to learn. This inspired today’s haiku:
.
Never can we rise
unless we lift the oppressed
and rise together.
