Interview: T.R. Verten

What inspired you to write your first book?
I was reading a lot of first person memoirs, and I loved the catty humor of those protagonists. I wanted to try writing a character who had a lot of bravado to mask deep insecurities.
Do you have a specific writing style?
I'd say I tend towards spare and lean, without a lot of exposition.
How did you come up with the title?
The genre of confessional is so intimate and sexy to me, so I hope the allusion to that comes through.
