Another great way to get God’s attention is to do something nice for someone else. I’m sure you are doing some form of this already, so it shouldn’t be that hard to grasp. The part you might be missing, however, is seeking a return for your good deed. I’m not saying to give something and immediately ask for a profit but to see the return as an intense feeling of love and happiness you can use to your advantage.
Every day we are faced with an internal battle between good and evil, so why not use this feeling of happiness as a weapon and stop convincing ourselves it is a selfish thought.
We tend to play down or good deeds, but these simple acts can provide a level of happiness that should be embraced internally. I don’t care who you are or where you live; everyone’s primary goal in life is to be happy. Some people tie this objective around material things, relationships, and even spirituality, but deep down, happiness is what every person seeks, good or bad.
Now that you have those thoughts in your mind, I’m going to ask you to take it up a notch. I’m asking you to do something nice for someone that wronged you or said something hurtful about you. It doesn’t have to be some grand jester. It could be as simple as complimenting them on a new hairstyle or a great idea at work.
At our core, we are all good people, and some of us have just made bad decisions or have been exposed to the wrong information. Doing a good deed for a so-called enemy not only puts you in a better vibration with God, but it helps you see life with a more passionate and forgiving heart.
This will show that you are not only willing to do the hard stuff, but that forgiveness and compassion are qualities that you hold in high regard. When you cultivate and develop these qualities, God is always close, and he is listening. Every thought, word, and action you take towards another is reflected back to you. What do you want to see?
