Brunch
She sighed at the door and then entered the house and with a smile on her face.A huge smile, a smile that seemed to be almost laughing.
She placed the contents of a paper bag on the table while calling her littler brother, trying to find out where he would be hiding this time. She looked under the table and he wasn’t there.He was hiding behind a mattress.A mattress leaning against the wall, on top of three other mattresses in the corner of the room. He came from behind the mattress and jumped from the top of an imaginary mountain; anxious to see whatever it would be on the table.“Finally…I am sooo hungry!” he screamed, running the few steps, holding abruptly on the table not to fall, laughing as only a hungry child can laugh, seeing something eatable and reachable.
There was bread and peanut butter. Milk and apples. She sliced the apples (there were two of them) and placed all beautifully on the table, in front of his hungry eyes, making a flower with the sliced pieces. She cut the bread, creating triangles, saying to her little brother while...
