The KDP Select Experiment: Part 3 - Good Will Hunting

Good Will Hunting is a movie about numbers. About a numbers genius. Well, I suck at math and I'm no genius, but I can copy/paste.
So here are the opening numbers on Amazon.com in this experiment:
These are my sales ranks and bestseller standings for the afternoon of January 20th--before I enrolled DIVINE INTERVENTION in KDP Select:
DIVINE INTERVENTION (22 reviews): Rank 16,770 - #26 Paid Bestseller in Books--Canadian Detectives
Here are my numbers on Amazon.com for noon January 21st, 12 hours in:
DIVINE INTERVENTION (22 reviews): Rank 268 - #1 Free Bestseller in Kindle--Police Procedurals (beating out Michael Connelly's free offering) Of course the rank could have been lower any time during the 12 hours.
*DI went out to 2201 readers free, but this is 2201 people who may never have read any of my works before.
**No noticeable influence on actual sales of my other titles.
Here are my foreign stats (Amazon.co.uk, .de, .fr, .it, .es):
DIVINE INTERVENTION before enrolling in KDP Select:
.co.uk - 10 sales
.de - 0
.fr - 0
.es - 0
.it - 0
12 hours after Select went live with free promo:
co.uk - 10 sales + 172 free.de - 28 free.fr - 1 free
.es - 0 free
.it - 0 free
This means that just over 2400 people will read DIVINE INTERVENTION. If they enjoy it, many will buy DIVINE JUSTICE. Some will buy my other titles. The question is: will these sales really make it worth giving up distribution via Smashwords, Apple, BN, Sony, Diesel, for these 2 ebooks?
During the day I monitored my stats for DIVINE INTERVENTION on Amazon.com a few times. Here are my stats for DAY 1 of the free promo:
Noon: rank 268, #1 Police Procedural, 2201 free copies
2 PM: rank 181, #1 Police Procedural, (I forgot to write down total of free copies)
4 PM: rank 165, #1 Police Procedural, (ditto)
7 PM: rank 48 (made Top 100 FREE Kindles), #1 Police Procedural, 6249 free copies
9 PM: rank 28 (ditto), #1 Police Procedural, 7429 free copies
DIVINE INTERVENTION is FREE from January 21-25. Get your FREE copy today.
Stay tuned for more stats tomorrow..
