Our raspberry bushes are literally dripping with fruit this season. It appears the warm dry spring provided nothing but benefits for this particular fruit. Same goes for the cherry and sour cherry trees in the village, which are overladen and ready to harvest. We don't have any cherry trees on our property, but the village I live in is full of them.
Some of my neighbors put ladders out beneath their cherry or sour cherry trees together with a sign encouraging passersby to help themselves to all the fruit they can pick. I may go out to one of those trees tomorrow. After all, one can never have too many cherries - or raspberries for that matter. The cherries in the photo below are courtesy of one of my wife's co-workers.
A good start to the summer, all things considered.
