Skilled Trades

By Kyle Lanz, Mr. Handyman - La Mesa & East Central San Diego

May 6, 2020 is National Skilled Trades Day. Skilled trades include the people needed to complete the remodel of your home.

To be considered a skilled tradesperson, someone that specializes in a particular occupation, requires work experience, on the job training and often formal vocational education, but not a bachelor’s degree.

Skilled trades, such as electricians, plumbers, carpenters, welders and machinists, are an alternative to jobs that require four years of college, or more. Trade schools and apprenticeships are starting points for these types of careers. The military is another great way to learn a skilled trade.
