Protecting Your Home from Pests: Insects, Rodents, and More

Your home may be your castle, but it is constantly under attack! The invaders are not Viking nor Mongols, but rodents, insects, mammals, and birds. How you battle the invaders will depend, to a degree, on where you live.

Are you in an apartment or out in a rural area? For part of my youth, we lived next to a cattle ranch. We had gophers, moles, skunks, woodpeckers, mud dabbers (wasps), deer and mountain lions. During the weekends, it was not uncommon for my step-father to spot a mole or gopher tearing up the yard. His solution was to grab his .410 shotgun and kill the critter. Not something you should you do in an apartment or condo, nor is something that you could do today in many areas.
