The Hobbit 1977 cartoon by Jules Bass and Arthur Rankin Jr.

Hobbit, The (c) 1977
by Jules Bass and Arthur Rankin Jr. The cartoon version of The Hobbit, created in 1977 and directed by Jules Bass and Arthur RankinJr., is a fun, colorful story aimed at mostly kids, but enjoyable for adults as well. It follows the book fairly well, as the audience goes along with Bilbo on his various adventures from fighting trolls, to visiting elves, to taking on a huge dragon!

I enjoyed the story when I was small, and it is still fun as an adult. I'm a little more critical of the way the cartoon portrayed the elves, especially Thranduil, but the story itself is still fun! I recommend it for fans of the book, The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien.
