A hell of a lot of people chose to unfollow me over the last week of posting about #blacklivesmatter and sharing my sentiments. A hell of a lot of people said they didn’t need to see any more photographs, read any more poetry, because I chose to speak out against racial injustice, I chose to be an ally that uses privilege instead of hiding behind it. To those that left, goodbye, good riddance, and thank you. Thank you for reminding me why it’s so important to stand up, to speak out. Thank you for teaching me patience and compassion, even when it’s not given back to me. Thank you for reminding me that there’s so much more fighting left to do, that everyone in any position of privilege, even when it’s as ridiculous and unearned as being born with white skin, needs to fight too. Thank you for reminding me why I spoke out, that justice and kindness and truth is more valuable than followers, or even my own career. I have always spoken out, for the lgbtq community, for this, for any cause that I believe in, and every time I do, so many people leave, turn their back on me and the art I create. Thank you, all who leave, for the Spring cleaning, for the weeding of this garden. I will never stop speaking out, I will never stop supporting equality and human rights, so if this does not fit into your life, your social media feed, three things: Goodbye, Good Riddance, and Thank You.
