Applaud the Normal June 1
Who would have thoughts that "Normal" and the "Ordinary" would be such welcoming terms right now?
Most of the time, we don't celebrate anything.... Normal.
We usually post pictures of extraordinary events...of work promotions, of new babies and engagements.
But the everyday normality of life...we tend to push aside. Until now.
As my city and state are reopening at a Stage 1, it is nice to feel "normal" again as restaurants and stores are opening up.
The everyday things in life we often take for granted give us assurance, security and relief that we are still standing, that we are going to be okay, that we can eventually find solid ground in otherwise sinking sand.
We need the Normal to feel.... comfortable.
I will never take for granted the little things in life every again!
I wanted to share a quote from the movie "Stranger than Fiction" staring Will Ferrell and Emma Thompson:
“Sometimes, when we lose ourselves in fear and despair, in routine and constancy, in hopelessness and tragedy, we can thank God for Bavarian sugar cookies. And, fortunately, when there aren't any cookies, we can still find reassurance in a familiar hand on our skin, or a kind and loving gesture, or subtle encouragement, or a loving embrace, or an offer of comfort, not to mention hospital gurneys and nose plugs, an uneaten Danish, soft-spoken secrets, and Fender Stratocasters, and maybe the occasional piece of fiction. And we must remember that all these things, the nuances, the anomalies, the subtleties, which we assume only accessorize our days, are effective for a much larger and nobler cause. They are here to save our lives. I know the idea seems strange, but I also know that it just so happens to be true.” ― Zach Helm, Stranger Than Fiction: The Shooting Script
This will be my last blog post for a while. My husband and I are taking the next 21 days to be on a hiatus with God. We will be deeply interceding for ourselves and for others' prayer requests as well as letting God lead in our next steps.
If you have any prayer requests, be sure to send them my way so we can pray over them and believe God to move in your situation.
