Churches are Open…But Still Not All of Them
Churches are opening around the United States. I am beyond blessed that I live in a country that allows the freedom of religion and the freedom of assembly.
I’m still going to play it safe by watching my church service online, but I don’t look down on anyone who goes to the actual building for the service. That is the freedom we have in the United States. After a couple of months of the buildings being closed for normal service they are now opening.
I pose this question. Is anyone going to be posting next week demanding churches to be open? Stating that it is our human right and freedom to congregate together. Or will the passionate flame die because their wrong has been righted?
It’s going to be sad to not see those posts anymore. You know why?
Millions of Christians around the world will not be able to attend a church because it’s illegal in their country.
North Korea – Christians are considered enemy of the state. You can be imprisoned or executed
Somalia – converting to Christianity is illegal. Christians are likely to be killed on the spot
Iraq – christians are forced to convert, pay a punitive tax or be killed
Syria – Christians are often abducted and killed
Afghanistan – Christians can be killed
Sudan – converting is Christianity is punishable by death.
Iran – Christianity is allowed, but Christians are raided by the government and treated like second class citizens
Maldives – converting to Christianity means forfeiting your citizenship. Owning a Bible is punishable by death.
There are many other countries in Asia and Africa where it is dangerous to practice your faith.
If you were passionate about opening the churches in your hometown, what are you going to do for your brothers and sisters in Christ across the world?
Or will you do nothing because you are able to sit back down in your pew?
Let us not turn a blind eye to those suffering for their faith around the world. If we do, we are just selfish, entitled Americans like the rest of the world thinks we are.
Let’s prove them wrong.
As Brooke Fraser sings in Albertine
Now that I have seen, I am responsible
Faith without deeds is dead
now that I have held you in my own arms, I cannot let go till you are
I will tell the world, I will tell them where I’ve been
I will keep my word
I will tell them Albertine
Are you going to speak up for them?
Peace
