It's Inspired! #BeatTheBlock

So this post is inspired by the season finale of Terra Nova and it was a "Oh my---what did he just say!" *rewind* and "eek, I shall put that in my notes for later!"



I should have put the quote in my phone as well, but I'll just give you the jist of it. If you haven't been watching Terra Nova...then where the hell have you been? Under a rock? Ha. No, but seriously, it's been an amazing show and so inspiring, well I know that if I ever got writer's block then I'd watch an episode or two.




If you had 1,000 people to restart civilization, how would you do it?




It was something like this, and like I said above...it was a  BOOM moment! I hope that you get to watch this series as the studio isn't sure if they are going to continue the show for another season, and I really want them to go on because it ended with so much potential and I'm inspired, I hope that you're inspired as well.




If you haven't been watching it then I'll tell you a little bit about it. Terra Nova or the Latin translates to New Earth, which is what it is. The people of 2149 live on a world that has no plant life or animals but some scientists created a time slip (something like that) where they can go back in time without doing any damage to the future--so it's all gravy! However, in the season finale all ties were severed from 2149 and Terra Nova, so they're now stuck, and they have 1,000 people to restart civilization.




So the big question that got my juices flowing and hopefully got all of you thinking the same kind of stuff when you were asked, "how would you do it?". So how would you restart civilization if you only had 1,000 people?




This kind of thinking is much like Sims City...I love playing Sims and controlling lives, probably why I'm a writer...that and I love writing. I also like to know all the aspects and Sims is a great way to get to know people. They have needs, they need to eat, they need to drink, they need to go to the bathroom A LOT and they need showers or they will start to smell! And it's all of these things that adds to the realism in your writing.




If you had 1,000 people to restart civilization, how would you do it?




Brainstorm the above question! There's not going to be any technology or modern day medicines. There are dinosaurs roaming around the Earth and you are a source of food for them, so how will you protect yourself and everyone else. Where will you get your food from? And how will you know if it's poisonous or not?




There are a lot of questions running riot through my head just thinking about all of the possibilities. But that's what I'm thinking of, and you know what makes you unique, is that you'll think of different things and answer your questions, my questions, other people's questions differently.
