Tthe Monk's Tower was one of the first structures built on St.Patrick's Isle which overlooks the town of Peel on the Isle of Man. It was built by Christian monks who needed a place to safe guard their valuables against Viking Invaders. The entrance door was made about 20 feet high. It was built that way so that if there were any Vikings attacks, the Monks would climb a ladder and then pull up the ladder.
